For Christmas, we decided the main gifts to each other would be Lego! Yep, a Lego Christmas! We each got to choose a BIG Lego set, with the intention of doing family Lego building time. Of course, Marcus and I grew up with Lego in our lives and this past year, Sam has finally graduated more seriously into the land of Lego {from the land of Duplo}. We thought getting some big sets would be a great way to spend quality time as a family.
We dove right into the Lego Christmas Day {working on only one set at a time}. I’ve never attempted such builds before! Sam picked out one of the largest sets that Lego currently has available, the Ghostbusters Fire Hall. Over 4600 pieces, with a rating of ages 16+ !! Yikes. After opening the box and seeing the manual {the size of a small phone book, I kid you not}, I thought we might be in over our heads.
But as with any Lego, page by page, bag by bag it comes together. With such a big build and multiple bags for every number, we enforced a sorting rule. Whenever new bags were opened, they had to be sorted by colour and block type. That soon became one of my favourite parts!
It was loads of fun to watch it come together and discover various mini figure characters as it went along.
The level of detail was just astounding!! Still totally blown away by that. Well done, Lego!
The set includes each of the Ghostbusters, plus Tully and Janine. And of course, it wouldn’t be Ghostbusters without some ghosts & ghouls, including Slimer & the Librarian Ghost and a few others.
Here it is, in all it’s completed glory! Adult supervision is completely required for any playtime, because let’s face it… I’m not attempting to put this thing together again {at least anytime soon}. We’ve still got two other BIG sets to work on. Here’s a little hint on what’s coming next. It also happens to be a hint at where we are headed in just TWO days time. The happiest place on earth:
That pool table! Awesome!
