Week 21 and baby is now the size of a banana! (I can only assume that this refers to baby’s length these days… the fruit & veggie baby analogy is just a bit odd, don’t you think?)

So lets just start the recipe ideas off in the right direction… four words… Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins. That’s all you really need to know about baking with bananas. That recipe is so tasty!!! I think the key to it, is the plain yogurt. We always eat a Greek style yogurt with about 10% M.F. We’re not afraid of fat in our little household. If you want these to turn out darn yummy, embrace the fat a bit. Trust me.
Let’s not forget the tasty banana smoothie option. Again, I use a Greek style yogurt for that. Then there’s the truly decadent banana split, which I’ve only had once in my life (and it was just at Dairy Queen, not Rachel Ray’s version). Or banana cream pie, which I’ve always wanted to try making.
Any other super yummy banana recipes out there?
Looks like this weekend will probably be the last outdoor event I’ll be vending at, until next spring, that is. Saturday I will be up at the University of Calgary campus with my friend Christine from Purple Pony Art for the fourth annual PARKSALE. It runs from 10am – 5pm in the green space just north of Mac Hall. I haven’t ever attended this event, but it sounds like it will be a good mix of artists and designers.
Hopefully the weather co-operates! It’s been lovely so far this week. Fingers crossed that the sun sticks around on Saturday. I’ll be dragging the tent up there no matter what the weather forecast (or rather, hubby will be). Thank goodness he’s going to help set-up and take down! I’m starting to get a bit more awkward with the passing of each week, as the baby belly becomes bigger, harder, and just a little more uncomfortable.
There will be the usual Bubblegum Sass spread of goodies for sale (variety of purse sizes, button magnets, hair combs, floral pins, etc). Also making their seasonal debut, a pile of lovely scarflettes. I know, I know… it’s only September and who really wants to think about winter when the daily highs have been around 27 degrees?! But I have been starting my evening crochet madness and might as well pop some of them out on the table for folks to try on and fondle. Plus, it’s really never too early to accessorize your autumn outfits (this coming from someone who’s fav season is fall)!
Looking forward to spending time with Christine and all her lovely creations! This will be the first time we’ve sold our stuff together, but definitely not the last. We’ve got another show together coming up in November. Have I mentioned how crazy November is going to be? Oh, boy, well, it’s going to be down right insane especially when I think about tackling it 7 months pregnant!! Perhaps I should go back to thinking about just getting through this weekend…
Anyway, if you’re looking for something fun to do on Saturday, pop by the PARKSALE! Do some shopping, check out the art, and enjoy the live music!
Week 20 and baby is now the size of a small cantaloupe!

I’m having a bit more of a brain dead week. Sitting here trying to think of recipes I make using cantaloupe is proving “fruitless”. However, if you really want to indulge yourself, take half a cantaloupe, scoop the seeds out and fill it will vanilla ice cream. Eat and enjoy. Of course, the enjoyment of it increase dramatically if it’s a super hot, sunny summer day. My grandfather or great grandfather, I can’t remember which at the moment (again, brain dead) apparently used to sit and eat cantaloupe like this. I’ve only eaten it that way a couple times myself, but it’s definitely a lovely way to enjoy a summer afternoon. For those of you in Calgary, it might help to just picture what that would be like since it’s another cool, rainy morning out and ice cream in cantaloupe just doesn’t seem quite right for today.
Hope you all enjoy the long weekend!
Yes, it truly has been one full year since I started writing on this here little blog of mine. It honestly has not been a hardship to keep up with it, but rather a joy to share all the small things and big things that have passed into my life, all the new discoveries and learning experiences, the many, many changes that every life undergoes, and all the wonderful people I’ve met along the way. A roller coaster at times, true. But can I just say how nice it’s been to share that roller coaster with others?
So how do you measure the success of a blog? Is it in the number of followers or unique visitors? Is it how frequently you post? It is based on how much it gets shared around through other social media and linked back to by other sites? I know that there are entire articles and books written on such things (I’ve read them in an attempt to learn the secret behind successful blogs). Personally I suppose it is a combination of many aspects, but the most important seems to be just in how much a blogger enjoys blogging. Simple right. Readers know when you aren’t being authentic. So I hope, that if I’ve achieved anything with this blog, it’s that I showed my true colours through each and every post. 365 days and 140 posts later… a small glimpse of this world through my eyes. Stick around for the continuing saga…
